Our Story

MDF is working for the last 3 decades since 1994 to address the issues of:

Sustainable Livelihood especially for tribal women.

Climate Resilient Nutrition as Mushroom offers a comparable nutritional profile as many animal products without requiring the same amount of input resources.

Reuse of Agriculture waste / crop residues.

MDF was registered under the societies registration act XXI of 1860 in the year 1998 vide registration no : KAM/ 240/ G/ 486 of 1997 – 98 (Kamrup, Guwahati. Dated: 08 / 01 / 1998.)

  • Awarded *Ashoka Fellowship
  • The Clarence Foundation USA has award “The Engaged International Philanthropy Program Award”
  • Awarded “Progressive Mushroom Farmer” by Directorate of Mushroom Research (DMR) (ICAR) Solan.
  • Action For India Fellow confirmed during January 2012
  • Awarded by "ARIASP" World Bank project in Assam since 1998 onwards for awareness and demonstration of mushroom throughout the state with distribution of planting materials.

 

  • Selected for Global Scaling of our idea of Using Mushroom as a tool to integrate livelihood activities in clusters at the “Ashoka Globalizer on Nutrition Rural Innovation and Farming” 02/05/2013 at Bengaluru. http://ashokaglobalizer.org/fellows/Bangalore-2013
  • Shortlisted by Govt. of India and successfully participated with a Stall in the world famous food and beverage trade fair at Alimentaria 2014 held at Fira Barecelona Exhibition Center, Barecelona in Spain from 31st March to 3rd April 2014(details available at http://www.alimentaria-bcn.com/en/).
  • Extensive farmers and social entrepreneurs study/networking tour in Spain during the month of March to April 2014.
  • Nominated as Entrepreneurial fellow in OKLOHOMA UNIVERSITY IN USA from October 2015.

Our Intervention

  • Incubation of more than 100 Women Area Level Federation
    (DIMCHA COOPERATIVE SOCIETY) formed in Collaboration with Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ARSLM).
  • Training and capacity building, awareness covering more than 1.7 lakhs in last 30 years.
  • Women entrepreneur incubated for Mushroom processing Unit (Mushroom Solution)
  • More than 28 no’s of Tribal Women Farmer Cluster Development in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and West Bengal.

Our mission is to promote smart, sustainable, and integrated farming practices . By combining traditional knowledge with modern innovations, we aim to empower farmers—especially women, youth, and rural communities—to build resilient livelihoods, enhance income generation, and ensure environmental sustainability.

To establish a holistic and sustainable agricultural system that harmoniously combines crops,, and other allied activities, maximizing resource use efficiency, increasing farm income, ensuring food security, and promoting environmental sustainability for present and future generations.
